Clarence James Rulon, 93, of Longmont, Colorado passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home at the Beatrice Hover Community, Tuesday, February 20th, 2024. He displayed resiliency like no other and always found a way to fight back. Jim was born in Cherokee, Iowa on April 9th, 1930, one of eight kids to Inez and Harold Rulon. The family moved to California when Jim was 8 years old on the train. Jim grew up in the Glendale area and attended local schools and eventually graduated from Glendale High in 1949. He enlisted and served in the army during the Korean War and was stationed at Sculthorpe Air Base in England. Jim was self-employed in the petroleum industry with Texaco, Mobil, Union 76, and Exxon during his career and was fortunate to work for several years with two of his four brothers in other business ventures. Jim married Jean (Conway) in 1957 and they had three kids, Deb, Steve, and Jimmy. She passed away in 2017. He also married Betty (Hardy); she passed away in 2021. Jim loved his family more than anything. Visiting both sides of the family was commonplace over the years. Every opportunity was taken to be part of creating those memories. After formally retiring in 1989, traveling in their RV was his passion.

They were able to see much of the country and enjoyed every moment. Through the years, he also enjoyed skiing, both water and snow, camping and a few rounds of golf. It was common to find him playing pinochle with his family and friends over the years. Jim was a very generous man with a kind heart and would always put others first. Jim moved to Longmont in 2021 to be closer to family. He always welcomed and loved being around his grandkids and spent many a day attending any one of several sporting events. He had a long wonderful, blessed life and we will miss him dearly.

Jim is survived by his three children, Deb Rulon (Nevada), Steve and Laura (daughter-in-law) Rulon (Colorado), and Jimmy Rulon and Leah Fike (daughter-in-law) (Florida). One sister, Florence Brown (California). Eight grandkids, Nathan, Ryan, Grant, Stella, Kara, Kayla, James, Leighann. Ten great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.

Faith is being sure of what you hope for (and) certain of what you do not see. We are absolutely certain Dad is in a better place. ***Funeral Service Thursday March 7th, 11am at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Longmont, CO with lunch reception to follow in St. Clare Hall. Please join us!
