Gomber rebounds with strong start

ON THE MOUND >> Lefty Austin Gomber rebounded from a rough outing to blank the Angels for three innings. He gave up three hits and one walk and struck out three. In his last start, the Dodgers ripped him for five runs on seven hits over just 1 1/3 innings. Two of Gomber’s three spring starts have been scoreless. … Lefty reliever Evan Justice pitched two-thirds of an inning, walking one and fanning one. He’s unscored upon over 4 2/3 innings and has given up two hits and two walks while striking out six.

AT THE PLATE >> Gold Glove center fielder Brenton Doyle’s torrid spring continued Friday. He went 1-for-2 with two RBIS and a walk. He’s hitting .429 (9-for-21) while drawing three walks and striking out four times. … Shortstop Ezequiel Tovar hit 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Tovar is slashing .421/.429/.842 through eight Cactus League games. … Alan Trejo, likely to make the team as a utility infielder, hit his first home run and is batting 6-for-19 (.316) with five RBIS.

PROSPECT WATCH >> The Rockies made several minor league roster moves Friday. They optioned right-handed starter Noah Davis to Triple-a Albuquerqu­e, signaling the end of his quest to be part of the big-league rotation — at least for now. … Infielder Adael

Amador, outfielder Yanquiel Fernández, and righthande­d pitchers Angel Chivilli and Juan Mejia were optioned to Double-a Hartford. …. Right-handed pitchers Karl Kauffmann, Jeff Criswell and Chance Adams, outfielder Zac Veen, and infielder Sterlin Thompson were reassigned to minor league camp. The Rockies have 48 active players remaining in major league camp.
