With pre-construction set to begin on Hotel Longmont soon, the city has released additional information as to where people can park downtown once work starts.

The vast majority of the roughly 100 spaces in the municipal parking lot at the northwest corner of Third Avenue and Kimbark Street, where the five-story, 84-room hotel will be built, are tentatively scheduled to close this week.

“I would think we could break ground in about a month,” Ike Thrash, who is part of the hotel development team, wrote in an email Wednesday. “Just paperwork left to do.”

The hotel, which will include a two-story parking garage with spaces for its guests and the general public, is expected to open some time in 2025.

In the meantime, parking is available at several other locations downtown.

• Spoke on Coffman Garage, 512 Coffman St.: Free public parking on levels two and three (look for the blue spaces) for up to two hours on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. Also, 70 public spaces plus an additional 80 spaces from Boulder County to be used for permit parking. Permits are available for $10 per month for the Spoke Garage.

• 200 East Parking Lot off Main Street: 3-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 43 spots.

• Eighth Avenue and Coffman Street Parking Lot: No time limits. 178 spots.

• 400 East Parking Lot off Kimbark Street: 2-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 80 spots.

• 500 East Parking Lot off Kimbark Street: 2-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 87 spots.

• Roosevelt Park Apartments Garage, 700 Main St.: 2-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 43 spots.

• 300 West Parking Lot off Coffman Street: 2-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 68 spots.

• 600 West Parking Lot off Coffman Street: 2-hour time limit on weekdays and no time limit in the evening or on weekends. 19 spots.

In addition to $10 permits for the Spoke Garage, day passes for specific lots are available for $5, which allow people to park without time restrictions.

All passes are available for purchase from at the Longmont Downtown Development Authority, 320 Main St., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

“One of the things we look at is connectivity and trying to make sure that it is very easy to be a pedestrian in our district,” said Kimberlee Mckee, Longmont Downtown Development Authority executive director.

The Longmont Downtown Development Authority encompasses 242 acres from First Avenue to Longs Peak Avenue and from Martin Street to Terry Street, according to its website.

It has approximately 2,225 public on- and offstreet spaces within its boundary, according to Mckee.

In September, the city and the Longmont Downtown Development Authority installed rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the mid-block pedestrian crossings in the 300, 400 and 500 blocks of Main Street.

The city also has plans to launch a microtransit service this summer that will provide an in-town shuttle service, similar to calling an Uber.

“We really want to make sure that people can get here by several modes of transportation,” Mckee said.
