Thirteen wrestlers from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont area were named to CHSAA’S allstate team, including six from Class 4A boys’ champion Mead.

The Mavericks won five individual titles en route to becoming the first team from the St. Vrain Valley School District to win a team title.

Longmont Times-call and 4A wrestler of the year Dalton Berg (190-pound bracket), as well as teammate Jake Glade (150s), were named to the first team after they won their second straight gold at Ball Arena in February.

They were joined by University of Iowa commit Leister Bowling IV (175s) and nationally renowned wrestler Otto Black (138s), as well as heavyweight Gordon Grant, after they’d won their first titles for Mead.

William Eilers (215s) was named to 4A’s second team after taking silver for the Mavericks, as was girls’ wrestler Ashley Booth (155s), who finished runner-up for a second year in a row. Mead’s longtime coach, Ty Tatham, was 4A’s coach of the year.

Three other local wrestlers were named firstteamers after winning gold elsewhere.

Legacy’s Quinn Funk won a second straight title, winning 5A 215s while finishing the season undefeated. He was named the Daily Camera wrestler of the year.
