Evidence that there is no climate emergency
A new documentary on climate change, “Climate: The Movie,” recently became available online. Many well qualified scientists, including several professors from elite universities and at least one Nobel prize winner, are interviewed. A quite different perspective on climate change emerges from the imminent global catastrophe narrative often promoted by vocal journalists, politicians and some other scientists.
“An Annotated Bibliography for Climate: The Movie” at wattsupwiththat.com provides more information and documentation regarding the topics discussed. Seventy key points from the documentary are addressed in the same order as they appear in the movie. The first point is that the climate industrial complex is a very, very big business. An October 2022 Swiss Re Institute study tracking progress on decarbonizing the economy concluded that another $270 trillion, in addition to what has already been spent, is needed between 2022 and 2050 to reach net zero.
The second point is that all of this money is to be spent even though there is no evidence of a climate emergency. It is still not even clear whether climate change will lead to a net welfare gain or loss. Many of the subsequent points discuss methods of measuring temperature and CO2 levels, both of which have been much higher in the past. A plot of CO2 levels and temperatures of the last 420,000 years as seen in Antarctic ice core data show the changes in CO2 tend to follow the changes in temperature, which indicates that the CO2 changes did not cause the temperature changes.
Several other points refute false assertions of increasing natural disasters such as wildfires, droughts, hurricanes, cyclones and other environmental concerns like rising Antarctic temperatures, declining polar bear population and destruction of the Great Barrier Reef. It is also noted, with supporting data, that fossil fuels built western civilization.
