Furman wins boys title
Commonwealth National was well-represented in the junior tournament Friday. Along with Furman hailing from the club, so did secondSlDFH finLsKHr BrLDn FLsFKHr, who shot a 75. Fellow Commonwealth player and defending boys champion Kyle Martin was among a quartet of players tied for third at 76.
3lyPRuWK’s 3DWrLFN BDWWDglia, John Mastronardo of Cedarbrook CC and Matt Kocent from Center Square GC joined Martin at 76. P.J. Acierno from Sandy Run CC and another Commonwealth player, Jonathan Liu, tied for seventh at 77.
In the girls division, Isabella DiLisio of Talamore CC successfully defended her title from last year, shooting an 86 for a 13-stroke victory over Talamore’s Abigale Sydnes.
Entering this busy time for Furman, he is hoping Friday’s win will spur him on for both the county amateur and state amateur.
“I’ve played consistently, but not my best rounds, in some other tournaments and TuDlLfiHrs,” KH sDLG, “EuW , Dlways seem to have that one bad hole here or there, which GLG nRW KDSSHn KHrH (FrLGDy).”
“It’s about getting better with my mental game and getting the bad hole out of PH.”
Friday, Furman seemed to have little trouble in doLnJ WKDW. 7KLs wDs WKH firsW of three big events for him over a span of six days. With each tournament, the competition will become more formidable.
