Rash of vandalism incidents hit Jenkintown Borough

Several vandalism incidents were reported in Jenkintown Aug. 22, 24 and 26, according to Jenkintown police.

A victim reported at 7:51 a.m. Aug. 22 that the driver’s side window of his vehicle was shattered while parked on the 100 block of Walnut Street, police said. The victim told police he did not know how the window could have been broken and that nothing seemed to be disturbed inside the vehicle, police said.

Graffiti was reported on a vacant building and two nearby vehicles located on the 600 block of Cedar Street Aug. 24 at 7:30 a.m., police said. This incident is under investigat­ion, police said. A few hours later, graffiti was also reported on a 25-mph speed limit sign, located on the 500 block of Summit Avenue at 1:03 p.m., police said. The graffiti, which was covering the 25, was reported to PennDOT for repairs, police said.

Vandalism was also reported at the Jenkintown United Methodist Church located on the 300 block of Summit Avenue Aug. 26 at 4:28 p.m., police said. The number 13 was spray painted in black on the side of the church and there was a sign that was sprayed too, police said. Authoritie­s said the church has had kids hanging out in the back parking lot, police said. The church requested extra patrol around the area, police said.

Authoritie­s are unsure if these incidents are related, police said.
