Burke added 37 and Joe Leventhal led the Lions with 48 yards on the ground. The Lions’ defense was not able to play the run on every play against the Knights.

“We heard they passed more than they did last year,” defensive back Glenn Mahon said. “We have been relying on our defense this year and if our offense can improve, there is no telling what we can do.”

The Knights’ quarterback Wingate Grim collected 71 yards in the air. It was the senior Mahon’s interception, his third of the season, that was one of many plays the kept the Knights out of the end zone. While the Knights outgained the Lions in total yards, the point advantage is all that mattered to Mahon and the defense.

“It was a slant pattern and (Grim) threw a good ball,” Mahon said. “Oscar Zhang tipped it and I was just sit- ting there and made sure I did not drop the ball. It fell right into my lap. We know if we get down in a game, we can rely on our defense.”

“Our linemen are great and really put the work in this summer,” Favino said. ”They made some holes for me and it allowed me to bounce out. We could not put a few good plays together. We thought we had the win, but we let it slip.”

The Knights (2-2) are learning to deal with the downfalls during 48 minutes of football and bounce back. The Lions (5-1) know the IrusWrDWLNJ IHHOLNJ RI NRW fiNishing games. But that was last year’s 0-10 Lions. This group is proven to be very resilient.

“We were down, but we came back,” Mayson said. “The extra point was big by Jordan Procrass. When we needed a stop, we got one.”
