La Salle blows out cather Judge

La Salle quarterbac­k Chris Kane is the kind of quarterbac­k who knows he needs to play well for his team to have success. When he plays phenomenal­I his team usually wins by a lot.

ln a fantastic day for footballI Kane threw for OP8 yardsI completed N5 of OM passesI and connected with four different receivers for touchdowns Saturday as La Salle rolled over cather Judge P5-T in a Philadelph­ia Catholic League football game at Lincoln cield.

qhe Explorers improved to S-M overall and O-M in the PCL while cather Judge dropped to O-P and M-N.

“We did what we had to doI” Kane said. “When we score on so many possession­s t o start the game it feels good. f also thought our defense was great.”

La Salle head coach arew Gordon was impressed with his team Saturday.

“Coming inI f wanted us to play properly and with passionI which we didI” he said. “f think Chris (KaneF is throwing the ball very well which comes from repetition­s and we now face a great challenge in playing St. Joseph’s Prep next. f think it’s a great thing for our league.”

Kane started on the cather Judge defense quickly and found Sean Coleman on a NV-yard qa pass with 5WN4 to go in the opening stanza and it was T-M. crom thereI Kane would connect with Jared eerrmannI aavid GivensI and Jimmy eerron on touchdown passes before intermissi­on. La Salle’s eerrmann would also add a N4-yard qa scamper before intermissi­on and it was P5-M at the break.

qhe Explorer’s defense had cather Judge quarterbac­k Ryan Mackiewicz running for his life all afternoon and La Salle did outstandin­g against the run as well. cather Judge had just 5O yards on the ground Saturday.

qhe teams played with a running clock in the second half. qhe only excitement of the half came when cather Judge’s Ryan Mackiewicz connected on a SM-yard touchdown strike to Brandon Spatz midway through the third quarter.

La Salle exploded for NS first downs while the Explorers defense was awesome in holding Judge to just three for the entire game. Kane ate up cather Judge’s secondary and the home team gave the Explorers plenty of time to throw with no pass rush.

“We knew we had to come out hardI” the Explorers’ Coleman said. “Now we’ll just have to work hard to be able to play with St. Joseph’s Prep. We’ll play our game and do our best.”
