Writers’ Group: Held on the second Saturday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All writers — amateurs, profession­als, scribblers or typists — are invited to join this new group for thoughtful discussion­s of the writing process and craft, exercises and prompts to generate ideas, and critique workshops of the groups’ writing. Evening Book Discussion: The Upper Moreland Public Library holds monthly book discussion meeting for anyone who wants thoughtful discussion with great people. Babies and Books: Caregivers and infants ages birth to 18 months learn and grow with Babies and Books on Wednesdays at 10 a.m, or at the Babies and Books: Early Edition, Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

ESL Discussion Group: The Upper Moreland Free Public Library invites all English as a Second Language learners to a twicemonth­ly ESL discussion group. On the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., library staff will lead an informal discussion paired with exercises for participan­ts to practice English conversati­on, increase their fluency and meet other English language learners. This program is free and open to the public. Participan­ts need not be a resident to attend the discussion.

Action Stories: Kids of all ages will leap, catch, stretch and move at Action Stories every week on Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. Young Artists: On Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m., school-age children will experience different art mediums each week through a self-directed activity that will allow them to explore & develop their creative thinking at Young Artists.

Yoga Story Time: Held on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 2 to 4 and their care-givers are encouraged to stretch their imaginatio­ns at Yoga Story Time, a program of stories, gentle exercise, and fun. Attendees should wear comfortabl­e clothing and bring a yoga mat or beach towel. Medicare Counseling Sessions: Upper Moreland Free Public Library has teamed up with RSVP of Montgomery County to offer Medicare counseling sessions for seniors with questions about their coverage. On select Mondays, the library will host a specially trained volunteer from RSVP’s Apprise program who can answer questions in an objective, easy-to-understand manner. Anyone who needs more informatio­n about their coverage, from those just becoming eligible to those who are having problems with their plans, can get answers to help them make informed decisions about the next step. Spring Concert: Bucks Mont Centennial Singers will hold their free spring concert, “Let There Be Music,” June 2 at 8 p.m. at William Tennent High School, 333 Centennial Road, Warminster. Old York Road Historical Society Open House and Book Sale: The Old York Road Historical Society will offer tours of its newly renovated collection­s space at Alverthorp­e Manor, 515 Meetinghou­se Road, Jenkintown, June 3 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Ten-minute talks will be held between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on the history of the Manor. In addition, a book sale will feature many outof-print history books with local and regional titles. Authors of local history will also be present to sell their books and autograph copies. NCJW Closing Luncheon: The Greater Philadelph­ia Section of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) invites members and guests to attend its annual closing luncheon and installati­on of officers June 5 at 11 a.m. at Talamore Country Club, 723 Talamore Drive, Ambler. Participan­ts will scour the borough, following clues to photograph and post on the “Photograph Jenkintown” group Facebook page. Local merchants will offer gift cards to participan­ts who gather the most likes for their photos. The scavenger hunter who solves all clues and posts their photos, collecting the most number of likes, will win the “Supreme Scavenger” trophy. The award ceremony will be held at the Upper Crust Pizza and Grill, 314 Old York Road, June 16 at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Old York Road Garden Club Meeting: The Old York Road Garden Club will hold a meeting June 14 at Grace Presbyteri­an Church, 444 Old York Road, Jenkintown. The meeting, “Attracting the Hummingbir­d to Your Garden,” will be presented by Glen Ashton, grounds manager of Meadowbroo­k Farm. The event is free. Hatboro YMCA Water Safety Lessons: The Hatboro Area YMCA will offer free water safety instructio­n to both members and the community-at-large June 18 to 22. A typical session will include exercises to help kids adjust to being in water, useful skill sets people can use if they unexpected­ly find themselves in the water, specific safety topics like helping others and fun activities to reinforce skills.
