Thank you to Murt for honoring Vietnam veterans
To the Editor:
I am writing to publicly thank Pennsylvania state Rep. Thomas Murt for hosting the Vietnam War Commemoration Pin Ceremony held on June 9 at the Horsham Air Guard Base.
This ceremony was held to finally recognize our Vietnam veterans and thank them for their brave service to our country, a recognition that was long overdue. These veterans did not receive the welcome home they so deserved decades ago. More than 100 veterans and their families came together.
I had the honor to attend as Mrs. Philadelphia County PA America 2018 and was moved by the beautiful ceremony. It had every bit of pomp and circumstance that these service members deserved.
Each veteran received a commemorative pin and was personally thanked for their service. Their gratitude was visibly seen as each veteran’s name was called to receive their pin. The majority of these veterans did not know each other, but they were all united as brothers once again. These ceremonies should not go unnoticed.
I have had the honor of meeting Rep. Thomas Murt, and his dedication to our community and our veterans is inspiring. He is truly a great man with a wonderful vision. His advocacy for our veterans and community involvement is reassuring that there are good people in the world and that our communities will continue to be beautiful for our children.
