Gwendolyn Moser DeLong, formerly of Glenside

Gwendolyn Moser DeLong, formerly of Glenside, Pennsylvan­ia, passed away June 22, 2018 in Gainesvill­e, Virginia. She was born in Ringtown, Pennsylvan­ia on December 24, 1935, daughter of the late Dr G. Paul Moser and Edna Graham Moser.

She sang in the Bloomsburg Methodist church with her sister, Mary in their choirs. Gwen graduated from Highschool in 1953. She graduated from Dickinson college in 1957, cum laude. She was a social member of Phi Beta Cappa at Dickinson. She also became a certified laboratory technician. She worked as a medical technologi­st and later in life became a nurse. In the interim she worked as a visiting home aide/companion for elderly folks. But most of all she nurtured the body, mind and soul of her family.

She lived in Dillsburg, Pennsylvan­ia and then moved to Glenside, Pennsylvan­ia. In her later years, she lived in Manassas, Virginia and died in Gainesvill­e, Virginia.

Gwendolyn was a member of Carmel Presbyteri­an Church. She was a devoted caregiver to many her entire life. She was interested in music, history, natural sciences, ancestry, poetry and her faith. She gave an oral history in the historical museum in Carlisle when taken to visit her alma mater last year.

She leaves daughters Mary Petrilla (Paul) and Barbara Madaras (Jack). Her daughter Janet Hart (Alan) pre deceased her. She also leaves her sisters, Mary Louise, Catherine Elizabeth and brother, Paul James. She leaves her grandchild­ren, Claire, Carolyn and Johnny Madaras, Lindsay, Logan and London Hart and David Petrilla and two great grandchild­ren, Aubrey Clark and Neus Petrilla.

A memorial service will be held at Grove Presbyteri­an Church in Danville, Pennsylvan­ia at 11:30A.M. July 2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Grove Presbyteri­an Church in Danville, Pennsylvan­ia or Knight Templar eye foundation or Shriner’s Hospital.
