Marion H. (nee Pennepacker) Woodward, of Warminster and formerly of Ambler, passed away on June 25, 2018. She was 96 years old. Born in Philadelphia on February 17, 1922, Marion was the daughter of Norman W. Pennepacker and his wife, Flora. She was also the daughter of Jeanette C. Pennepacker. Marion was a graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia.

Marion moved to Ambler after her marriage to S. Irvin Woodward, Jr. on October 12, 1946. They celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his passing on December 6, 2006. Marion was very active at Calvary United Methodist Church her entire married life. She was the longest living member of the church and also the oldest. Over the years she held many positions serving the congregation.

Before her marriage, Marion was employed at the Bell Telephone Company in Philadelphia. After her children were school age, she was an assistant cook at Wissahickon Senior High School. She retired in 1981.

Marion was a lifelong summer resident of Ocean City, NJ. She opened her home to many of her friends as well as those of her children.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Wallace, William, and Norman, and most of her friends.

She was the most amazing mother to her children, Lee, Norman, and Jeanette. She didn’t like the word in-law, and she treated their spouses as if they were her own children. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and her four great-grandchildren were her reward for a long life.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, June 30 at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home in Ambler. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with the service to follow at 10:30 am.
