Elect officials who will stand up for our rights, values

- — Melissa Osborne, Willow Grove

To the Editor:

Now more than ever, we need to elect officials who are clear in their message and will stand up for our rights and values.

With the nomination of this Supreme Court justice, the president has shown that his self preservation is at the top of his priority list. It has become abundantly clear that it is now up to the states to preserve the cornerstones of our democracy. We need to elect state senators who will uphold the freedoms that we value in our daily lives. We need representatives who will stand up to a federal government bent on destroying our liberties.

Maria Collett, candidate for the 12th District, is the clear choice to ensure a bright future for Pennsylvania. She has spoken in support of unions and will advocate to protect workers in Montgomery and Bucks counties. As an attorney and nurse, Maria has spent her career comforting people in their most vulnerable moments and advocating for those who don’t have a voice.

Maria understands and shares our struggles. In sharp contrast to our retiring state Sen. Greenleaf and his son, who’s hoping to inherit the family seat, Maria is a strong advocate for women’s rights who believes that decisions about women’s health should be made by a woman, her faith and her family in consultation with her doctors. She has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood and PA NOW.

Maria knows what the people want, is listening and will do her part to represent democracy, not indoctrinate a dynasty.
