J. P. Mascaro & Sons opening recruitment center in Willow Grove
AUDUBON » J.P. Mascaro & Sons is opening a new recruiting and training center in Willow Grove, close to the Willow Grove train station. The new office, located at 119 North York Road will open on Monday, July 6.
Potential employees will be able to apply for positions with
J.P. Mascaro & Sons and receive training at the new facility. Applicants will be able to move through the hiring process — from application to training — at one location.
The new office is strategically located to provide new employment opportunities for drivers, helpers and maintenance personnel, according to the company. It will provide easy access for Mascaro workers that use public transportation to get to work.
“This is an ideal location because it is walking distance from the Willow Grove train station. It also has a bus and train line from Center City/North Philadelphia,” Frank Sau, spokesman for J.P. Mascaro. “Once at this location, the employees will then be transported by our service vehicles ready to work in the Bucks County area which would only be 20 to 30 minutes from Willow Grove.”
The company is looking to hire about 50 laborers and driver’s helpers to work in sanitation, recycling or yard waste collection for the company, according to Sau.
“The center will be used as a meeting place for the helpers to shorten their commute while expanding our reach, creating a larger pool of workforce for our
Bridgeport Division,” he said, adding that the employees will be working in the Bucks County-area, including Warminster, Upper and Lower Southampton and Northampton.
“This location will facilitate easy access to the company’s vehicles at the beginning of the workday and make it very convenient for the employees to return home after work,” Pat Mascaro Jr., director of human resources at J.P. Mascaro, said in a press release.
He added that the Willow Grove facility is a “win-win” for the company and its employees, and will allow the company to meet its service obligations with employees working a “shorter work day due to the projected logistics of our work schedules.”
The concept of staffing a recruitment center is not a new idea for J.P. Mascaro & Sons. The Audubonbased solid waste company launched a similar facility on East High Street in Pottstown in September 2018. At that facility, applicants meet with recruiters, learn about the company and go through the necessary training. Once hired, shuttles transport Mascaro employees from Pottstown to and from their Berks County work locations on a daily basis.
The Pottstown facility has been a success, according to Sau, because of its “easier” access to public transportation and providing transportation to and from Mascaro’s Berks County locations.
Sau said the company signed a lease for the Willow Grove rental space on Tuesday, June 30, and will be ready to welcome potential employees on July 6. Interviews can be scheduled immediately, he added. Applicants should be prepared to fill out an application and should have identification and Social Security numbers ready.
