Mr. Bernard Schettkoe

MOUNT HOPE - Mr. Bernard Schettkoe of Mount Hope, NY died Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Sapphire Nursing At Meadow Hill. He was 89. He was born July 28, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Bernard Schettkoe and the late Erna Schettkoe. Bernard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years. He was happily married to Elizabeth “Liz” Barchet in Jersey City, NJ on August 2, 1958, together they raised their 2 beloved sons. Bernard worked in the Postal Service in Manhattan before moving on to run his own masonry company, Eagle Concrete, out of Orange County New York.

A family statement read: Bernard was a kind, gentle and caring man, husband, and father. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, especially the wildlife and birds who would come to enjoy the treats he put out for them daily. Bernard was an avid stamp collector all his life.

Surviving are: his beloved wife Elizabeth “Liz” Schettkoe, son, Rich Schettkoe and his wife Cindy and their daughters Kelsey and Brittani, son, Randy Schettkoe and his wife Kimberley, their son Colton and their step-son Tommy. His brother Leslie Schettkoe and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings: Dolores Viera, Eddie Schettkoe and William Schettkoe.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Faith Reform Church, 11 South Centerville Road, Slate Hill, NY 10973 with Reverend Darrayle Williams officiating. A private burial will be held in Manning Cemetery, Greenville Township, NY.
