The Golden Rule?

-

In a Times-Herald letter to the editor, the Rev. Ed Rosenback — perhaps with masks in mind — opined that we can’t legislate good behavior or legally prohibit bad behavior.

But, I would ask, when was the last time he got on a bike without a helmet or had to think twice before buckling up in his car? Or smoked in a restaurant or plane? Or ...

Sure there will still be murders, robberies, and wars. There is evil in the world. But how much worse might it be had we not codified that Law of Moses? How much worse might it be if we just threw up our hands rather than using them, as legislators, scientists, teachers, moms and dads, to do God’s work in the world and make it a safer, healthier, better place for all?

And, might wearing a mask be a good way to start practicing the Golden Rule? Do I sense the stuff of sermon?
