The suspect in a Vallejo woman’s June murder faces more legal proceedings in the coming days in Solano County Superior Court in Vallejo.
Kenneth Travaille Hill, 49, faced a held-to-answer arraignment Sept. 14 in connection with the June 20 fatal shooting of Symphony Monk in an unincorporated area of Vallejo.
However, court records indicate Hill was not arraigned at that time, and
Judge Daniel Healy ordered him to return to Department 2 at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28 for another held-to-answer arraignment in the Justice Building.
Hill is represented by Fairfield-based attorney Dionne E. Choyce. Deputy District Attorney Melainee Collins leads the prosecution.
The Solano County District Attorney’s Office filed its complaint against Hill on July 1, and, at the same time received his record of arrests and prosecutions.
In an emailed press release to The Reporter on
Wednesday, District Attorney Krishna Abrams alleged that Hill is charged with first-degree murder.
The prepared statement also indicated that, on June 20, Solano County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the unincorporated area of Vallejo after receiving calls about a dead woman at that location.
Upon arrival, the deputies found Monk, who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to her head and had died, according to the DA’s statement.
Sheriff’s detectives
Charles Olmstead and Dylan Friend were able to compile data from license plate readers and cell phone providers which led them to the identity of Monk’s alleged shooter. Hill was subsequently arrested and charged with her murder.
If found guilty at trial, Hill faces 25 years to life for the killing and likely more time for use of a firearm and any prior felony convictions.
