TCAL releases dates for spring sports

T he T r i- C ount y At h let ic Leag ue recently announced schedules for all of its spring sports for 2021.

The TCAL consists of Rock and Stone divisions and includes local schools Jesse Bethel, St. PatrickSt. Vincent and Vallejo.

Spring sports now include a number of activities that would normally start in the winter. The California Interschol­astic Federation moved all fall sports to December and January and the winter sports to the spring due to the ongoing coronaviru­s pandemic.

The league schedule for boys basketball begins April 27 for the Rock as Salesian is at rival St. Pat’s and Vallejo is at De Anza. Vallejo moved from the Stone to the Rock in boys basketball this year. On April 13, Swett is at Bethel in the Stone opener.

For girls basketball, St. Pat’s is at Salesian and Bethel is at Pinole Valley on April 27 in the Rock openers. Swett is at Vallejo on April 13 in the Stone opener.

In baseball, El Cerrito is at Bethel and St. Mary’s is at St. Pat’s in the Rock openers on May 5. Vallejo

has a bye on April 21 and then heads to Richmond on April 23 for the Stone opener.

In softball, St. Pat’s is at Salesian and El Cerrito is at Bethel on May 5 in the Rock openers. Vallejo is at Richmond in the Stone

opener on April 21.

T he conference normally schedules league playoffs in all of those sports but teams will just play regular schedules in 2021. The above dates do not include nonconfere­nce events.

For fall sports like football, the North Coast Section Board of Managers moved the start date from Dec. 14 to Dec. 7 after a meeting on Friday.
