City Councilmember Katy Miessner endorses McConnell for mayor
Vallejo City Councilmember Katy Miessner announced on Thursday that she is endorsing fellow council member Robert McConnell for Mayor of Vallejo in November’s election.
“More than ever, we need Robert McConnell as ou r ne x t mayor, bec ause we n e ed a leader who has experience, maturity, and civility,” Miessner said. “While other candidates may have other qualities, with the challengers we face, our city can’t afford a mayor with little or no experience. We need Robert McConnell, an experienced legislator, who has honorably served eight years on the Vallejo City Council, and on Vallejo’s Planning Commission, and who has served our country as a Vietnam veteran.
Miessner has often joined McConnell in council votes regarding funding, reform in the Vallejo Police Department, and supporting local artists and youth programs in Vallejo.
“Vallejo is a beautiful place full of citizens eager to show their pride in the city they call home,” said McConnell. “As mayor, I’ll help Vallejo put its best foot forward to bring more business to town and to preserve the Vallejo values that we hold dear.”
The endorsement comes just two weeks after current Vallejo Mayor Bob Sampayan also gave his endorsement to McConnell.
McConnell is one of five people running for Vallejo Mayor. Also running is Vallejo City Councilmember Hakeem Brown, along with M. Avonelle HanleyMills, John B. Kenney and Cornisha Williams-Bailey. Sampayan announced in July that he would not be running for another term. Sampayan announced in July that he would not be running for another term.
