Suisun City extends committee, commission applicatio­ns until Jan. 5

Do you have an interest in public service and are a resident of Suisun City?

Then you may want to apply for a seat on one or more Suisun City committees or commission­s.

In a press release, City Manager Greg Folsom said that in order to get greater resident participat­ion in committees and commission­s, the city will extend the deadline to apply by two weeks, accepting submission­s until 5 p.m. Jan. 5.

Interested residents may serve on various commission­s and committees, including:

• Planning Commission — four vacancies with fouryear terms;

• Recreation, Parks, Marina & Arts Commission — three vacancies with fouryear terms;

• Housing Authority tenant commission­er — two vacancies with two-year terms;

• Senior Coalition of Solano County — one vacancy with a two-year term;

• STA Bicycle Advisory Committee — one vacancy with a three-year term;

• STA Pedestrian Advisory Committee — one vacancy with a three-year term;

• Solano Commission for Women and Girls — one vacancy with a three-year term.

The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month in the Council Chambers at Suisun City Hall. The Commission reviews and makes recommenda­tions on the community’s General Plan, developmen­t applicatio­ns and policy proposals on both current developmen­ts, as well as longrange plans for developmen­t.

The Recreation, Parks, Marina and Arts Commission meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month in the Council Chambers at Suisun City Hall. The RPMA Commission is an advisory commission to the City Council, Recreation, Parks and Marina Department, and Public Works Department regarding public parks, recreation­al facilities and programs, grants, applicable operationa­l policies, unmet needs and public right- ofway beautifica­tion within Suisun City.

The Housing Authority Commission is the governing board of the Housing Authority and consists of the five City Council Members and two tenant commission­ers. Regular meetings shall be held on the first Tuesday of the following months: January, April, July, and October at 7 p.m.

Tena nt commission­ers must be tenants of the Housing Authority and at least one tenant commission­er must be over 62 years of age or older. Interested Housing Authority tenants are encouraged to apply.

Interested residents are encouraged to apply by submitting an applicatio­n form to the City Clerk stating qualificat­ions and objectives for desiring to be become a member of a commission or committee.
