Dorris LaVerne Lubkeman - Dorris, Mom, Grandma Do or Auntie Do to family and friends - passed away on Christmas Eve morning in Vallejo. A loving soul and beloved focal point in her family, she was 94.

Born in Oakland as the second of Rolland Atwood and Florence (Juarez) Atwood’s three daughters, Dorris was a lifelong resident of Vallejo.

Dorris graduated from Vallejo High School in January 1945. She played the violin and was a member of the Vallejo Junior Orchestra, which played at the 1939 World Exposition on Treasure Island.

In April 1944, Dorris married Lee Platt and they had three children, Teresa (Terry) Platt Lerseth, Brian Platt and Richard Platt (who died in infancy). Later in her life, she married Bill Lubkeman, who preceded her in death.

Dorris was active in Rainbow Girls and later in life joined the Eastern Star, Gateway Chapter No. 3. A member of Ascension Episcopal Church for 77 years, including multiple terms on the church vestry, Dorris was also a member of PEO Chapter KL in Vallejo. Dorris worked for the Vallejo Police Department as a dispatcher and at the front desk for 30 years. She began her career when the department was on Marin Street, then moved to its current location on Amador Street upon its completion.

In addition to her husbands and son, Richard, Dorris was preceded in death by her son, Brian; sister, Barbara Leach Miller; brothers-in-law, Bob McDill and Del Miller; and niece, Donna Leach Clark.

She is survived by her sister, Pat McDill; daughter, Terry Lerseth; daughter-in-law, Gloria Platt; grandchild­ren, Mike (Lisa) Lerseth, Debbie (Rodney) Wells, Nancy (Dan) Wright, Brian Gunar (Amy) Lerseth, Heather Platt, and Mariah (Josh) Myrick-Smith; great-grandchild­ren, Megan, Brent (Trevor), Katie and Nicholas Lerseth, Lauren and Brett Wells, Rob Hammons, Hailey and Dylan Wright, Marshall, Corbin, Reid and Dane Lerseth, Chadwick (Kiandra), Ava, Angelo (Ciara and their daughter Marley May) and Tara Platt, Jacob, Cayetano, and Eli MyrickSmit­h; great-great-granddaugh­ter, Rozlyn Hammons; nephews, Bob (Vicky) McDill and Ron McDill, nieces, Boni (Dave) Collins and Nancy Gallardo; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Inurnment will be private due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns. She will be inurned in Tulocay Cemetery in Napa.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Providence Care Home of Vallejo - in particular her dedicated caretakers Beverly and Jun - and Kaiser-Vallejo Hospice.

She will live in our hearts forever.
