Pierson chosen as Woman of the Year
Helen Pierson, the CEO of Medic Ambulance and a Fairfield resident, has been named by Sen. Bill Dodd as the Woman of the Year for Solano County.
A news release by Dodd’s office credited Pierson’s company for being on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic, from transporting passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship to
Travis Air Force Base for quarantining in early 2020 to partnering with Solano Public Health for mobile testing and vaccinations.
“Helen stepped up in a major way, helping to keep our community safe during one of the worst public health crises the world has ever seen,” Dodd said in a statement. “She leads a dedicated team that Solano
County and the surrounding region has come to depend on. She also volunteers her time and energy for numerous community organizations. I couldn’t be more proud to recognize Helen for her important work.”
Pierson joined Medic Ambulance in 1988 and was named CEO of the company last year. In addition to continuing to provide COVIDrelated services as well as responding to emergency calls in Solano and neighboring counties, the company
has deployed ambulance strike teams to Butte, Kern, Mendocino, Napa, Santa Cruz and Sonoma counties over the past year, Dodd’s office wrote.
“We love our community, which has done so much to support us over the years,” Pierson said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be recognized. My parents and big brother started this company four decades ago, and we have a great group of medical professionals who deserve so much of the credit for our success today.”
Additionally, Pierson is past president of the California Ambulance Association. She is also a member of the Vallejo Rotary Club and served as president from 2015 to 2016 and was recognized as Kiwanian of the Year in 1993. She is also a past board member of Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento and remains actively involved with that city’s Saint Francis High School and as a member of Leadership Vallejo.
