Moran named the new executive director of Cal Maritime Foundation
Terry Moran has been named been named executive director of the Cal Maritime Foundation. Moran is longtime aerospace and technology executive, one-time naval aviator, licensed captain in inland and near coastal waterways and an offshore sailor.
Moran assumed the new role in late March.
Moran says that the executive director role at the foundation feels like a perfect fit.
“I am extremely honored and privileged to serve the Foundation and help this amazing team serve the cadets of Cal Maritime,” Moran said in a news release. “As an immigrant, retired naval officer, and naval architect I feel a deep connection to the values and beliefs of Cal Maritime and look forward to advancing its mission of training, educating and developing future maritime leaders.”
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Moran received his master’s degree from the University of San Diego in International Relations.
He logged 28 years of combined active and reserve service as a naval officer and aviator and 20 years in the aerospace industry in program management leadership roles for a variety of aerospace companies including Northrop Grumman, Collins, and Raytheon.
In 2015 he launched a nonprofit foundation, Wooden Boats for Veterans. The organization is committed to the mission of improving veterans’ health and well-being by getting them on the water with opportunities for sailing instruction, learning new skills through wooden boat restoration, and building community around historically significant vessels.
