Linda Streeter

Linda Jeen Streeter, 74, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2021, at her home in Vallejo. Born in Berkeley, CA, to Paul and Tina Streeter, her family moved to Vallejo when she was a toddler. Linda attended Vallejo schools where she excelled. As an 11th grader at Vallejo Senior High School, she won an Odd Fellows speech contest for a trip to the United Nations in New York. Linda graduated with honors from Vallejo High School in 1964 and attended Michigan State University as a National Merit Scholar. In 1967, she received a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. Linda also received a masters degree in Indian Studies from the University of Wisconsin and in International Administration from the school for International Training in Vermont. In 1967-68, Linda enrolled at the University of Delhi, India, to continue studying the Hindu language. She returned to the same institution as a Fulbright Scholar in 1970-71. Linda then worked in Bangladesh where she administered 96 medical clinics providing treatment to refugees from the civil war in that region. She returned to the U.S. in 1974 and worked for UNICEF, traveling extensively in Europe, the Far East, and South Africa.
Linda entered medical school at the University of California at San Francisco in 1974. After completing her first year, she suffered a major head injury while horseback riding and was forced to discontinue her studies.
Linda was a longtime resident of Vallejo, working in administrative positions at various companies throughout the Bay Area. She volunteered for many years in the English as a Second Language program offered through the public library. She also continued to provide aid to the needy in India through the Stamp Project. Linda was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Vallejo. Linda had a love of animals, especially cats, and had many pet companions over the years.
