American Canyon High football team beats Petaluma in Week 10

The American Canyon High football team defeated Petaluma 35-28 at Wolf Den Stadium in a Vine Valley Athletic League battle in Week 10.

The Wolves finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record, 4-2 in league play.

American Canyon went up 14-7 in the second quarter when Sean Yumang threw a 93-yard touchdown pass to Jelani Jones.

Yumang had an 11-yard touchdown run to put the Wolves up 21-20 at the half.

With the game deadlocked at 28-all in the fourth quarter, James Aken had a touchdown run to put American Canyon up 35-28.

The Wolves will await Sunday’s North Coast Section playoff brackets to see if they made it.

SALESIAN 36, ST. PAT’S 8 >> The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High football team lost its regular season finale to Salesian on Friday night 36-8.

Darryl Pouncey scored the lone touchdown for the Bruins (4-6, 1-3 in the TriCounty Athletic League) as well as the two-point conversion.

T.J. Foster, Nando Cisneros, Andre David, Ray Flood and John Smith also played well in the contest according to Bruins head coach Lane Hawkins.

St. Pat’s awaits the North Coast Section playoff brackets on Sunday.

Boys Water Polo ALAMEDA 24, ST. PAT’S 5 >>

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High boys water polo team lost in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs to Alameda, falling 24-5 on Wednesday.

The No. 12-seeded Bruins (16-6) had two goals from Ethan DeLange and a goal from Enoch Farias and John Macaranas.

Alameda, seeded fifth in the tournament, takes on American at noon on Saturday.

Girls Water Polo

MARIN ACADEMY 15, ST. PAT’S 3 >> The St. PatrickSt. Vincent High girls water polo team fell to Marin Academy in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs on Wednesday.

The Bruins (7-7) had its season end with the loss.

The fifth-seeded Marin Academy takes on Marin Catholic in the second round on Saturday at noon.

Women’s Volleyball

SOLANO 3, MARIN 0 >> The Solano College women’s volleyball team defeated Marin on Friday night, winning 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 in Bay Valley Conference play.

Kailyn Kaiser led the defense of the Falcons (18-11, 11-0) with 21 digs, serving 13-13. Sammy Brown led with nine kills, serving 1717 with an ace and added 15 digs, while Chris Rigney Cruz added seven kills and two blocks.

Dani Rydjord registered seven kills, serving 12-14 with two aces, while Anaya Rodriguez led with 14 assists, and added 14 digs and served 15-15 with three aces. Mylei Moli chipped in three kills on zero errors, added two blocks and served 6-6.

Solano hosts Mendocino on Monday.

Women’s Soccer

SOLANO 6, MERRITT 0 >> The Solano College women’s soccer team shut down Merritt 6-0 on Friday in Bay Valley Conference play.

Kayla Herman had two goals and Amber Morales had a goal and two assists for the Falcons (10-7-1, 9-31), who led 3-0 at halftime.

Savannah Crews, Dakota Marin and Isabel Martinez all had goals. Katherine Umana and Paulina Rubio both had assists.

Bailey Erbland had the shutout in goal.

Solano hosts Marin on Tuesday in the regular season finale.
