Benicia baseball ties Petaluma in preseason

Vallejo badminton wins two matches

The Benicia High baseball team tied Petaluma 6-6 in a game called after seven innings on Wednesday.

Jake Matteson, Lucas Ayers and Myles Cooper each had two hits for the Panthers. Ayers had an RBI, while Jacob French had one hit and two RBIs.

Peyton Rowles pitched three innings and gave up five hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters.

Benicia (1-1-1) is scheduled to play next on Tuesday at Vanden.

REDWOOD CHRISTIAN 12, ST. PAT'S 1 >> The St. PatrickSt. Vincent High baseball team lost to Redwood Christian 12-1 on Wednesday.

The Bruins (3-2) could only muster two hits, with Sergio Urias and Bo Smith collecting them.

Urias took the loss on the mound, giving up six runs in an inning and a third.

St. Pat's is scheduled to play at Fairfield on Friday.

Badminton VALLEJO 16, RICHMOND 1; VALLEJO 12, EL CERRITO 5 >>

The Vallejo High badminton team won two games this week, defeating Richmond 16-1 and El Cerrito 12-5

In the game against Richmond boys singles players Cindy Yu won 212, 21-3. Keyara Pascua won 21-5, 21-7.

In boys singles Ricky Dumag won 21-18, 21-18, while Rodonel Escobar won 21-16, 21-6.

In doubles the girls team of Ericka Dumag and Marlina Manalastas won 21-3, 21-6.

In the second game against El Cerrito Paola Torres won 21-15, 21-19, while Vanessa Santos won 21-16, 21-16.

On the boys side Jason Arucan won 14-21, 21-11, 2118. Kyle Mabasa won 21-6, 21-3.

The Jesse Bethel High badminton team lost 15-2 to DeAnza on Tuesday.

Tamiyah George won in singles 21-16, 16-21, 21-15.

Meanwhile the mixed doubles of Rene Guajardo and Abagail Vargas won 2117, 7-21, 23-21.

Bethel's next match is scheduled against Richmond on Tuesday.
