Assistant City Manager to step down
Assistant City Manager Terrance Davis announced this week he will be parting ways with the City of Vallejo come April 12 to take a job with Berkeley as its new public works director .
Davis initially became interim assistant city manager for Vallejo back in November 2021, and transitioned to become a permanent assistant city manager six months into his role. Prior to, he was heading the Vallejo's public works for over four years.
Davis recently supported Vallejo City Manager Michael Malone, who will be stepping down as well on April 19. A new city manager for the city has not been named. Questions on whether or not Davis was interested in the upcoming city manager position were not answered as of presstime. The news was first reported by the Vallejo Sun.
“For the best interest of my family, I've decided to pursue other career opportunities,” Davis told the Times-Herald on Friday. “I have truly enjoyed the past 7 years serving Vallejo. I was afforded an opportunity to work with hard working local government professionals who care about the city and developed many positive relationships with community members and organizations. I'm very proud of my small contributions to the community, and will continue to be a strong supporter of Vallejo employees, businesses, and residents wherever I am.”
Prior to joining the City of Vallejo in August 2017, Davis was a public works division manager in Sacramento where he oversaw maintenance and operations in a variety of areas including integrated waste, code enforcement, and regulatory compliance. He also served as assistant city manager in Compton, where he was responsible for public works and parks maintenance, budget preparation, and housing and community development.
With the city of Berkeley, Davis will be paid $260,000 and will be tasked with overseeing a $189 million budget and 350 employees.
