Claudia Mae Hargraves Palmer (1945-2022)

Ms. Claudia Mae Hargraves Palmer, the daughter of the late J.T. and Mable Lewellen Hargraves, was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Forrest City.

She attended Lincoln High School with the Class of 1964, and was a graduate. She later attended Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Taylor Chapel. While in St. Louis, Mo., she was a faithful member of Fruit of the Spirit under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Lewellen.

Claudia was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Matthew Palmer. There were no children born to this union. Claudia was a beautiful, sweet and caring person to everyone she met.

Claudia worked as a seamstress for many years and retired from Pfizer. Claudia moved from St. Louis to Colorado to Forrest City in October 2019 and attended United Christian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie Brown until her health failed.

Her beautiful memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Andra (Sarah) Hargraves of Erie, Colo., and Earleen (Ron) McDaniel of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchild­ren, Alyssa, Ron Jr., Astraea, Kayan, Bryson, Madison, Jossiah, Nyla and Geneva; six sisters, Rosie Johnson and Debra (Rodney) Ford, all of Forrest City, Earnece ( James) Walker of St. Louis, Mo., Bobbie (Larry Moseley) of Louisville, Ken., Joann Taylor of Desoto, Texas, and Henrietta (Bert) Leatch of Allen, Texas; brothers, Horace (Laura) Hargraves of Compton, Calif., JT Hargraves and Kenneth (Carol) Hargraves, all of Detroit, Mich., and Ulysses (Edna) Hargraves of Marianna, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Mable Hargraves; one sister, Martha; two brothers, Robbie and Glen Hargraves, and her late husband, Matthew Palmer.

Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the United Christian M.B. Church.

The funeral service for Claudia Mae Hargraves-Palmer, 76, of Forrest City, formerly of St. Louis, will be Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 11 a.m., at United Christian M.B. Church with Pastor Willie S. Brown delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Dansby Cemetery in Haynes.
