Two FC men killed in Marianna shooting; third hospitalized at Med

- Tamara Johnson

Two Forrest City men were killed in a shooting that occurred over the weekend in Marianna.

Arkansas State Police report Albert Dillard, 32, and Arthur Hill, 59, were killed in a shooting Saturday afternoon on South Florida Street. A Marianna resident, Davalone Taylor, 32, was also shot.

The Marianna Police Department, which is currently without a police chief, asked the ASP’s Criminal Investigations Division to take over the investigation.

According to reports, the MPD received a 911 call to a residence at 229 S. Florida Street just after 2 p.m., Saturday.

Officers found Dillard suffering from “multiple” gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene about 4:15 p.m., by the Lee County Coroner, according to the ASP press release.

Hill was pronounced dead about 3:30 p.m., after being transported to Forrest City Medical Center.

According to the press release, Taylor also suffered multiple gunshot wounds but was taken by a private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center. He was later airlifted to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis where he was reportedly in serious condition today.

The bodies of Dillard and Hill have been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab where the manner and cause of death will be determined, according to ASP officials.

The investigation is continuing, according to the press release.

WREG in Memphis reported over the weekend that multiple neighbors told the television station that the shooting stemmed from an attempted robbery which they claim ended with the accused suspects dead, but police have not officially confirmed if that is the case.

Lee County Sheriff Corey Wilson this morning said he is scheduled to meet with State Police to discuss the case today.

He said deputies, on Saturday, were at the crime scene, helping with crowd control and securing the scene.

Dillard had a case pending in St. Francis County Circuit Court stemming from an arrest in May last year where he allegedly forced his way into the home of a woman after she received an order of protection against him only a few days prior to that incident.

Dillard’s charges of violation of the protection order, thirddegree domestic battery, residential burglary, theft of property and two counts of endangering the welfare of minors were scheduled for the March 6 term of circuit court.

Hill had been arrested in July 2016 on charges of seconddegree domestic battery but the charges were nolle prosequi in 2018 after the “victim in the case could not be located.”

Online court records show no prior criminal cases for Taylor in Lee or St. Francis counties.
