Billie Jean Price (1949-2023)

-

Billie Jean Price, age 73, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023, in Sarasota Fla., after a courageous battle with lymphoma spanning six years.

Billie was born Oct. 14, 1949, to George Taylor Billingsley and Geraldine Beard Billingsley in Palestine, the youngest of six children in a loving family.

She began her journey as a lifelong educator by earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Arkansas, followed by her master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. Billie’s career as a public school teacher spanned 35 years, primarily in Clarksville, Tenn., where she educated hundreds of elementary children, and oftentimes across multiple generations. Even after her retirement, Billie continued to educate as a substitute teacher and a private tutor, both in Clarksville and in Sarasota, where she relocated to in 2014.

In addition to being an impactful educator, Billie was a loving and selfless mom to her two children and Mimi to her five grandchildren. She was a devout Christian and believer in Christ, and her children are unable to recall an evening where they did not see her studying the Bible prior to bed. She was a steadfast friend to many and touched the lives of countless others with both small and large acts of kindness.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Crystal Tedesco of Sarasota, Fla.; son, John (Jennifer) Price of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Bob Billingsley of Rogers and Raymond Billingsley of Carthage, Miss.; a sister Carol Ramsey of Springdale, and five grandchildren, Brooklyn Tedesco, Matthew Tedesco, Matilda Price, Calvin Price and Ronan Price, who she shared with Dan Price.

Billie was preceded in death by her father, Taylor, and mother, Geraldine; two brothers, Don and Vernard, and Lynn Breeding, her first husband.

Visitation for Billie Jean Price will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home and continue until the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery.

Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
