KASU to host ‘Spring Forward into Giving’ event

-

A spring fundraiser will be held by KASU 91.9 FM, the radio station broadcasting from the campus of Arkansas State University, Wednesday through Friday, March 27-29.

“Spring Forward into Giving,” is a "Pop-Up Fun(d) Drive" hosted by KASU to reach their $30,000 spring fundraising goal.

In February, nearly $5,000 was raised during a “Leap into Giving” three-day event.

“We appreciate our KASU listeners as they continue to show their appreciation for the station, helping us reach our goals every time we ask. KASU depends on support from listener members and underwriters to bring listeners the music, news, arts and views they depend on. Each contribution helps us reach our goals,” said Mark Smith, station manager at KASU.

KASU listeners become members by making financial contributions to the noncommercial educational station.

“Membership funds are used to pay for programming aired by

KASU. The amount raised during this event as well as the number of members retained and added helps to show community support for the station needed to qualify for service grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,” added Smith.

Grants help pay for programming and supplement the operating expenses of the station.

KASU is Arkansas’ oldest non-commercial public radio station, operating since 1957. The station has been an NPR member station since 1971.

In addition to locally produced news and music programs, KASU pays to receive programming from NPR, American Public Media, and other sources.

KASU accepts membership contributions at any time. Listeners may call 870-972-2200 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
