Rosters set for annual Sun Senior Classic

The 17th annual Sun Senior Classic, a doublehead­er featuring many of the area’s best high school senior basketball players, is scheduled for Sunday, April 28.

This year’s event will be held at Valley View’s Blazer Arena for the first time. The girls’ game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 3:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Central Dealership­s, the Sun Senior Classic dates to 2006. The doublehead­er was held each season through 2018-19. After pausing for 2019-20 and 2020-21 because of the coronaviru­s pandemic, the event returned after the 2021-22 season.

Riverside’s Tyler Timms and Marked Tree’s Colten Frazier are the coaches for the girls’ all-star game.

Timms’ Blue all-star team includes two players from his Riverside squad, Gracie Washington and Amber Courtney. The Blue roster also includes Carmen McShan and McKenzie Williams of Nettleton; Makenzie Hampton of Marmaduke; Hallee Wells and Arabella Oliver of Buffalo Island Central; Elizabeth Hufstedler of Westside; Lauren Berger of Pocahontas; and Neely Coggins of Brookland.

The roster for Frazier’s White all-star squad includes Katie Clark of Tuckerman; Mykayla Banks of Rivercrest; Kinsey Clark of Brookland; Lanie Welch of Westside; Jimaria Jackson of Jonesboro; Kinley Morris of Brookland; Presley Martin of Corning; Baylie Joiner of Marmaduke; Katelyn Graddy of Sloan-Hendrix; and Donna Douglas of Nettleton.

Wilburn-Covington and Bay’s Brad Brannen are the coaches for the boys’ all-star game.

Wilburn-Covington will coach the White all-star team, which has Koby Turner of Rivercrest; Jax Whitley of Buffalo Island Central; Cole Kirby of Brookland; Caleb Chew of Jonesboro; Luke Kirk of Manila; Cameron Marshall of Marked Tree; Richard High of Osceola; Tyler Parham of Brookland; Jayce Couch of Corning; and Chris Stacy of Jonesboro.

Brannen’s Blue all-star roster features Taylor Smith of Nettleton; Evan Stotts and Justin Brannen of Bay; Omar McCuiston and Dennis Gaines of East Poinsett County; Cooper Rabjohn of Rector; Jesse Beliew of Paragould; Jamaree Thomas of Nettleton; Eli Whitmire of Westside; and Hudson Rogers of Valley View.
