Sanibel merchant Frank Bailey built his island home in the 19th century. The restored Bailey Homestead Preserve remains an idyllic glimpse into the past, but also an important landmark in Sanibel’s comparatively long history. Francis Bailey (1921-2013) raised his children, which includes Mead (pictured on the cover with her father), in the home. Discover more on page 36.
