The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village...
... invites you to step back in time
AND SEE SANIBEL AS IT ONCE WAS.
The village is Sanibel’s tribute to the past and a delight for visitors and residents alike. It is the place to experience a glimpse of Sanibel and its people from the 1880s through the 1940s.
Settled by farmers who enjoyed several decades of agricultural production, Sanibel’s way of life is reflected at the museum and village with its nine historical buildings. The buildings are original structures moved to the village from their long-time island locations. There is a pioneer home, a fishing cottage, the old Post Office, the old Sanibel Schoolhouse, the old Bailey’s General Store, Miss Charlotta’s Tea Room, Morning Glories cottage, the Packing House (the only replica), Shore Haven and its Caretakers’ Cottage, and the Bailey Model T truck. Come step back in time with us.
