Clyde Smith

ALMA - Clyde Raymond Smith, 90, of Alma, passed away the 7th day of March, 2024, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Alma to the late Raymond Willie and Mamie (Lovegrove) Smith. Clyde had built many houses in and around Alma; and was the former owner/operator of the Concord Food Mart. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church and former member of Concord Baptist. His greatest joy in life was his family. He also loved horses and riding, and was a member of the Cavalcade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavonna Kay Jordan; a sister, Elizabeth Arnold; three brothers, Cleo Smith, Eddie Wayne (Sonny) Smith, and Gerald Dean Smith; and a granddaughter, Mindy Jordan Archer.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lillie Harwell Smith; three daughters, Carolyn Shelby, Linda Dillard, and Jeannie Smith, all of Alma; five sisters, Barbara Patton of Hot Springs, Wanda Meadors (Tommy) of Mulberry, Edith Harvey (Gary) of Fayetteville, Brenda Reed (Bobby) of Alma, and Shirlene Carter (Wayne) of Alma; a brother, Jimmy Don Smith (Ralphaline) of Alma; three granddaughters, Nikki Jordan (John) of Fayetteville, Kelly Osburn (Bobby) of Alma, and Jennifer Chivington (Larry) of Alma; four grandsons, Ryan Dillard (Jennifer) of Kansas City, Mo., Landon Shelby (Cheryl) and Logan Shelby, all of Fort Smith, and Justin Cristee (Kim) of Van Buren; his great-grandchildren, Darek Archer (Makala) of Branch, Nicholas Archer (Bailey) of Poteau, Devehn Fowler of Dyer, Krislyn Patrick of Ozark, Bentley Osburn, Kinley Osburn, and Asher Osburn, all of Alma, Ellie Chivington of Alma, Caleb Dillard of Kansas City, Dawson Shelby (Andi) and Daye Shelby, all of Rudy, and Jackson Cristee, Lillie Cristee, and Wyatt Cristee, all of Van Buren; his great-great-grandchildren, Jax Archer and Krislynn Archer of Branch, Gracie Shelby and Adelynn Shelby of Rudy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Gracelawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Landon Shelby, Logan Shelby, Ryan Dillard, Justin Cristee, Larry Chivington, and Larry Crawford.

The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
