Editor’s note: The following is a list of the board, commission and council meetings that are scheduled this week around Humboldt County.

Arcata City Council

When: First and third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m.

• The council will meet in closed session at 5:15 p.m. to discuss two cases of anticipate­d litigation.

• During the regular session, the council will consider extending eviction protection­s as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arcata Fire District Board of Directors

When: Second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m.

• The board will continue a discussion regarding a proposed special tax that could go on the November 2020 ballot.

When: Second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 6 p.m.

• The commission will consider a Redwood Coast Montessori use permit and coastal developmen­t permit.

• The commission will select a chair and a vice chair for 202021.

Eureka City Council

When: Special meeting Monday at 3 p.m.

Where: The meeting will be held in person at Eureka City Council chambers, 531 K Street, Eureka. It can also be viewed on the city’s website or via Access Humboldt channels.

• The council will hold a public hearing to consider the fiscal year 2020-21 budget.

• The council will consider a resolution to defer increases in water and sewer rates.

• The council will consider approving amendments to the agreement with Humboldt Transit Authority.

Eureka Planning Commission

When: Second Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

• The commission will continue a public hearing on the June 2020 zoning update.

Eureka Economic Developmen­t Commission

When: Third Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m.

Where: Eureka City Council chambers, 531 K Street, Eureka • The July 15 meeting is canceled.

Ferndale City Council

When: Third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

• The council will have the second reading of an ordinance that would prohibit smoking in certain areas.

• The council will receive an update on COVID-19 conditions in the city.

• The council will discuss diversity and inclusion in the city.

Fortuna Planning Commission

• The commission will continue a design review for an illuminate­d sign and a projecting sign in the downtown retail area.

• The commission will hold a public hearing for a lot line adjustment.

Humboldt County Associatio­n of Government­s

Humboldt County Board of Supervisor­s

When: Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. except for the fifth Tuesday of a month

Where: The meeting can be viewed on the county’s website or Access Humboldt channels.

• The board will consider whether to ratify a contract with Chan Zuckerberg Biohub for geometric sequencing of COVID-19 samples to look at transmissi­on within the county.

• The board will discuss strategies for diversity and inclusion in the county.

• The board will receive its

annual report from code enforcemen­t.

• The board will receive an update on the conditions around COVID-19 at 9 a.m.

• The board will receive an update from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on elk hoof disease at 1:30 p.m.

• The board will consider an appeal from the planning commission for Redwood Properties special permits for cannabis manufactur­ing and distributi­on.

Trinidad City Council

When: Second (and fourth) Tuesday of the month at 6p.m.

• The council will consider a resolution acknowledg­ing the contributi­ons of Dwight Miller as well as discuss how to fill the seat he vacated.

• The council will consider the draft water shortage planning process.

• The council will discuss reinstatin­g a half-time deputy position.
