‘Don’t let democracy slip from our grasp’

-

At the very core of democracy is FAIRNESS. America’s system of government has been a process of change and refinement with fairness for all as its goal. Joe Biden may be Catholic and prochoice because he represents Americans and not the current Pope. The Republicans said it was fair to deny Merrick Garland a seat on the Supreme Court because a presidential election was less than a year away, more than seven months. Now there is a vacancy six weeks away, and for any Republican to deem it necessary to push through a Supreme Court nominee is to openly deny fairness and democracy itself and embrace fascism. Should this happen, democracy will fail and so will America. Worldwide, Trump’s leadership is the least trusted of all world leaders and gone with it trust in America. If the Republicans choose to cheat now, they will be proudly waving the banner of a fallen democracy and will have failed the nation and the world. If you never voted before, VOTE! If you only vote when it’s convenient, VOTE! If you come of age between now and the election, VOTE! If you have a thousand reasons why you can’t! VOTE! If you care about why your ancestors came to this country, VOTE! This is not about any previous issue we have voted for, this is for democracy, for freedom, and the preservation of what thousands of Americans have sacrificed so much for. Don’t let democracy slip from our grasp. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! — Larry DePuy, Eureka
