Senior center, CVS offer flu shot event

-

The Humboldt Senior Resource Center is partnering with CVS Pharmacy to provide a flu shot event on Oct. 6, at the Arcata Senior Dining Center site at the Arcata Community Center, located at 321 Dr. Martian Luther King Jr. Parkway in Arcata.

CVS pharmacists and staff will be administering vaccines from 10 a.m. to noon. Weather permitting, the event will take place in the parking lot on the southeast side of the building.

Vaccines will be administered, in the order of arrival, to walk-up clients or car-side for those wishing to remain in their vehicles. For those wanting to receive vaccines car-side, park in the parking spots facing the playground. Face coverings and physical distancing will be required at this event.

Those wishing to receive the vaccine should bring their identification and insurance card. Flu vaccines are covered at no cost to the recipients under most insurance plans. Community members must be at least 3 years old to receive their flu vaccine at this event. Reservations are not required to receive a flu shot.

According to Mary Gattuso with CVS, “With the ongoing health impacts of COVID-19 on local communities, CVS Health is reminding the public that it is more important than ever to stay current with vaccinations and other routine health care needs. By getting a flu shot this fall and taking other proactive measures to improve general health and immunity, individuals and families can protect themselves against seasonal flu, help safeguard the overall health of the community and minimize the impact on health care resources.”

For more information about the flu shot event, contact Tasha Romo, HSRC program manager of Nutrition and Activities, at 707-443-9747, ext. 1228.

For those wanting to receive vaccines car-side, park in the parking spots facing the playground. Face coverings and physical distancing will be required at this event.
