Early College High School accepting applications

- The Times-Standard

Academy of the Redwoods Early College High School, a Fortuna Union High School District school located on the College of the Redwoods campus, is now accepting new student applications for the 2021-2022 school year.

AR invites incoming students to join this small, supportive learning community where students develop individualized academic programs and may earn up to two years of transferable community college credits (including Career Technical Pathways). AR students benefit from a cohesive program of core high school curriculum with high school teachers and concurrent enrollment in College of the Redwoods courses. As a public high school this is all available to students tuition free.

The only requirements for acceptance are the ability to test into an entry level high school algebra course, and most importantly, to be motivated to attend.

Currently, in response to the pandemic, AR has been able to accommodate all of its students with a hybrid combination of on campus and distance learning. Daily COVID-19 safety protocols include a health screening upon arrival, small class sizes/physical distancing and masks at all times. The fall 2021 on campus schedule, related to COVID-19 safety, has yet to be determined.

The priority application deadline is Friday, and more information, along with an information night video, are readily accessed through the admissions section at ar.fuhsdistrict.org or at Facebook.com/AcademyoftheRedwoods. Call 707476-4203 to speak to someone directly.
