The Cancel Culture, Part II
This is how the Republicans take back the House and Senate in 2022 as the woke progressive snowflakes have gone too far this time. Just this week they “canceled” Mr. Potato Head and some Dr. Seuss books. While that might work in California and New York, the rest of the country is just shaking their heads at them damn libtards forcing their woke political values on us again by canceling more of our history. The woke progressives are only tolerant of those who walk lock-step with them. Anyone else is subject to being canceled.
I played with Mr. Potato Head as a kid and now he has to be gender neutral Potato Head? I don’t think so. When did we get so politically correct? I don’t need to put the pronouns “He, His, Him” after my name in my emails ‘cuz I already know what gender I am. If you’re confused about what gender you are, then by all means you go ahead and put whatever pronouns you want. I read Dr. Seuss books as a kid and then a generation later read Dr. Seuss books to my daughter. Dr. Seuss books are racist? I never noticed the Japanese character sitting on Mount Fuji and thought to myself, “Damn, that’s racist!” Although I’ve seen many political cartoons drawn during WWII that depict Japanese and Germans in ultra-racist tones.
They canceled the TV show “Cops” as it glorified the police against those poor, innocent people using drugs and alcohol and doing stupid things. Disneyland changed it rides “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Splash Mountain” because of complaints of sexual or racist overtones. Aunt Jemima brands are now the Pearl Milling Company. Eskimo Pies are now Edy’s Pies. Land O Lakes, Uncle Ben’s and Cream of Wheat will be changing their corporate brands. The Mrs. Butterworth syrup bottle has slimmed down. Mutual of Omaha has removed its Native-America logo. The Dixie Chicks have changed their name to “The Chicks” to avoid any Southern racist stereotypes. Squaw Valley Ski Resort? I don’t think so. ManHard Consulting, (civil engineering firm) — do I even have to go there?
In real estate, you can’t call it the “master bedroom” as it’s now the primary bedroom. Corporations can no longer use the marketing slogan “whitening” your teeth. “Blacklist” and “Black Friday” are out along with “White Christmas.”
Forget about professional sports teams. The NFL’s Washington Redskins are now the Washington Football Team (WFT) or as I call them, WTF. NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians are next on the cancel culture radar. They tried to cancel the movie “Gone With the Wind” because of its depiction of the Southern lifestyle pre-civil war. Although Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Kevin Hart can drop the nword dozens of times during their live performances.
This past January the San Francisco Board of Education approved a resolution to change 44 school names of historical figures with direct or broad ties to slavery, genocide, oppression, racism, gentrification, Manifest Destiny or the “subjugation” of human beings. This included Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, along with naturalist John Muir, Spanish priest Junipero Serra, American revolution patriot Paul Revere, Francis Scott Key, composer of the “Star Spangled Banner,” philanthropist James Lick, poet James Lowell and Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Our kids aren’t even in school during COVID and the woke snowflakes on the San Francisco Board of Education want to rewrite our history?
Where do they stop? Next thing ya know, them woke snowflakes will want to remove the McKinley statue on the Arcata Plaza. Then they’ll want to change the name of the city of McKinleyville to just “Ville.” Next Washington, D.C. will have to change its name, along with the state of Washington. My point is if you stick a microscope up a woke progressive, you’re gonna find some dirt somewhere in the past. Nobody’s perfect.
