City recognizes veterans from area
A veteran’s salute is on display in the city of Rio Dell, to honor all who served in the armed forces, either living or dead. A similar display of individual veterans’ signs was on display for Memorial Day weekend earlier this year. The salute is located on the lawn at Rio Dell City Hall.
Approximately three dozen signs were put on display on Veterans Day and will remain on display through Sunday.
“The veterans shown were either born and raised in Rio Dell — Scotia or had families and close ties to the community,” Chamber of Commerce
Vice President Jim Brickley said. “There were a number of brothers, uncles and cousins (honored) and four members of the Gunnerson family.”
