Coast Central Credit Union grants funding to 8 local nonprofits
Coast Central Credit Union president James Sessa announced the credit Union’s board of directors approved $100,000 in grants through its Community Investment Program’s fall round to eight local organizations. A total of 30 nonprofits had requested nearly $400,000. Coast Central also supports its communities through sponsorship, college scholarship and employee volunteer programs.
“In difficult times, our communities come together to identify needs and collaborate toward good for all,” Sessa said. “From those rebuilding from devastating fires to establishing self-sufficient gardens for fresh produce to providing our homeless with dry socks and rain gear, we are very grateful for local non-profits and those who volunteer for and support them.”
Fall 2021 recipients include:
$25,000: North Fork Grange; rebuilding of water supply destroyed by the Monument Fire $15,000: Ink People — MARZ Project; supplies for at-risk youth for art activities $13,500: Orleans Volunteer Fire Department; new generator, apparatus, and equipment $13,000: Abbey of the Redwoods; upgrade of community Sea Goat Farm project $10,000: Cooperation Humboldt; minigarden supplies for lowincome families $9,800: Humboldt Period Project; drop-in menstrual supplies for impoverished women $8,200: Salmon Creek Volunteer Fire Department; new critical volunteer firefighter gear $5,500: Affordable Homeless Housing Alternatives; winter weather gear for homeless
