Reader asks about ‘we the people’ considerations

-

Rep. Jared Huffman & Rep. Mike McGuire … as I read the headlines of the Times-Standard, Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, I could feel the bile coming up into my throat. Once more “We the People” of this great country, as I am now looking at another “mythical’ stimulus check. … I think thoughtfully to myself, what about us, “We the People” who have worked all of our lives, since we were teenagers, we handed over our tax dollars, without too much grumbling. We raised our families, bought homes, build businesses, but somehow or another we became the invisible people, we are in our 60s, 70s, 80s and on up. Many people who should be retired, are still working and paying taxes because they can’t live without working, they need the money to live, they receive the stimulus check as they should.

If any of us are unlucky enough to own property, that puts us into another category one that takes you out of freebies such as food, eyeglasses, hearing aides, dental, medical, etc. If any one of us in that group happens “NOT” to pay annual income tax, (excluding the ones who cannot retire), we don’t get to be “Stimulated” as in the stimulus check! To get your stimulus check, all you need is not to have ever had to work, as in SSI, nor pay rent during COVID-19 or what about if you are here as an illegal, (don’t get me wrong, if I lived in a 3rd world country, I too would also be scaling the “Wall”) Come on Uncle Gavin, we may be invisible, but we still vote and send letters to the editors! Folks, if you are lucky enough “NOT” to fall into the category that “We the People” are living in and we have made it possible for you to receive the stimulus check. … Uncle Gavin will be more than glad to pour money down your rabbit hole.
