Seasonal activities set in Arcata

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday — and the “Awesome Arcata Coupon Book” featuring businesses across Arcata will be available to mark the occasion.

Arcata Main Street will host an activity table at the farmers market starting at 11 a.m. followed by afternoon music on the plaza, and lighting up the downtown decoration­s at 5:30 p.m.

#ShopLocalC­yberMonday is set for Monday, Nov. 29, celebratin­g the many businesses with which one can shop online easily and convenient­ly. Lists, directorie­s and guides are available at www.ArcataMain­Street. com,www.ArcataCham­ber. com and www.VisitArcat­a. com.

Santa and friends will hop aboard the Arcata Fire Department’s vintage fire truck on Dec. 11 for a “Santa Parade” across Arcata. Leaving the farmers market at noon, the parade will travel to all the shopping centers of Arcata where pop-up parties are encouraged, before returning to the Arcata Plaza to visit with families, then heading back to the North Pole.

Other events include: • Holiday Sunday Art Market Series featuring local art and craft vendors, live music and holiday festivitie­s. Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 19. This Sunday, celebrate “Chanukah on the Plaza.” On Dec. 5, there will be live music with Flynn Martin and Santa will be on hand outdoors for photos from noon to 2 p.m. On Dec. 12, The Gatehouse Well will play music and Santa will meet children for outdoor pictures from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 19 is the Snowflake Queen’s Winter Solstice Snow Party, the grand finale to the “Season of Wonder and Light: festivitie­s, and features music by the College of the Redwoods Jazz Band

• Arts Arcata will be Dec. 10 and features art and extended shopping with downtown merchants, a night market of vendors and music on the Arcata Plaza. A new wine, chocolate and cheese event sponsored by Arcata Main Street will take place that evening behind Jacoby’s Storehouse.
