CR offering 2 new innovation grants
The College of the Redwoods Foundation has announced two new grants meant to spur innovation and support the college’s new Education Master Plan.
The President’s Economic Innovation Fund will provide grants to fund proposals brought forward from faculty, staff, students, or community members partnering with CR faculty/staff that demonstrate a potentially positive economic impact on both the Redwoods Community College District and the community. Grants will provide up to $50,000 and projects need to be completed within 18 months.
The President’s Academic Innovation Fund will provide mini-grants to support CR faculty projects that align with the District’s Education Master Plan. Grants will provide up to $5,000 and projects need to be completed within 18 months.
The Education Master Plan is a long-range, comprehensive plan designed to be an anchor to which the college’s fiscal, annual, enrollment management and human resources planning processes are linked and which will guide the direction of the college for the next decade. The ultimate goal is to take each of our academic programs to the highest level in meeting the needs of our students and our community
“Our current Education Master Plan calls on the college to stretch our boundaries and strive for something greater than we thought possible,” said College of the Redwoods’ President, Keith Flamer. “With these two innovation grants, we demonstrate a commitment to implementing creative ideas that will translate into tangible benefits for our students, our college, and our community.”
Students, staff, and faculty, as well as community members who partner with a CR constituent, will be able to apply for grant funds for projects that directly support the six major anchor themes in the Education Master Plan:
• Becoming the Preferred Transfer Pathway to Cal Poly Humboldt
• Expanding and Prioritizing Offerings that Prepare Students for LivingWage Jobs
• Creating a More Nimble and Adaptable Institution Through Improved Strategic Planning
• Establishing Stronger Wraparound Experiences for Students’ Total Connection
• Pursuing the Future of Learning
• Increasing Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
