The most recent update from the Humboldt County Office of Elections does not change most election results.

As of Friday, there are 9,233 ballots that remain to be counted.

In one of the more contested races, two candidates appear headed to runoff in November. Tiffany Hunt Nielsen holds a marginal lead over Juan Pablo Cervantes, with 44.57% of the vote to Cervantes’ 43.46%. Trailing the field is Benjamin Hershberger with 11. 97%.

The other tight race is the one determining the next 4th District supervisor. Natalie Arroyo added to her lead and now holds 52.88% of the vote. Challengers Mike Newman and Kim Bergel trail with 33.3% and 13.83% respectively. The current vote count makes it less likely Arroyo could face a November runoff, but with the remaining votes, it could change the race.

In the 5th District supervisor race, incumbent Steve Madrone still holds a sizable lead with 66.94% to challenger Larry Doss’ 36.06%.

In the race for Humboldt County auditor, Cheryl Dillingham continues to hold a massive lead over Karen Paz Dominguez. Dillingham has 71.12% of the vote, while Paz Dominguez has 22.42%. Mychal Evenson, who withdrew from the race but was still listed on the ballot, has 6.46%. Earlier this week, Paz Dominguez thanked voters and said she was working to transition the office to Dillingham at the end of the year.

In the Humboldt County District Attorney race, Stacey Eads remains in the lead with 57.96%. Challengers Adrian Kamada and Michael Acosta hold 32.59% and 9.45% respectively.

In the judicial race, Steven Steward remains ahead with 57.18% to Ben McLaughlin’s 42.82%.

Finally, in the race to fill a seat on the Arcata City Council, Alexandra Stillman continues to hold the lead with 40.76%. Kimberly White follows at 26.52%. The rest of the
