Night Market

The Eureka Friday Night Market is back for its fourth season, starting Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in a new expanded format covering Second Street and E Street in Eureka. For 14 Friday evenings in a row, Humboldt Made and the North Coast Growers Associatio­n will transform the heart of Old Town into a festive place to meet up with friends and neighbors after the long work week. Friday Night Market includes a farmers market, 70-plus local artisan vendors, outdoor bars featuring Humboldt-produced beverages, food trucks and pop-up food vendors and live music to dance to on two stages nightly. Bands play

North Coast Repertory Theatre in Eureka hosts two bands this weekend.

At 8 p.m. Friday, Canary and The Vamp will perform. The cost is $15. At 8 p.m. Saturday, ThunderClo­ud takes the stage. Admission is $10.

Marsh tour

The Redwood Region Audubon Society will present a free guided field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Bring binoculars and meet leader Chet Ogan at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata for incredible views of Humboldt Bay, easy-towalk trails and a great diversity of birdlife. RSVP by contacting Ralph Bucher at thebook@reninet.com.

Tour the marsh

Friends of the Arcata Marsh sponsors a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.

Meet leader Barbara Reisman at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Interpreti­ve Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-orshine walk focusing on plants and/or marsh ecology.

Masks are recommende­d but not required inside the building, regardless of COVID-19 vaccinatio­n status.

Weekly bingo

Bingo games are played Tuesdays at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6. A snack bar is available.

Annie & Mary Day

The 54rd annual Annie & Mary Day celebratio­n in Blue Lake will be July 10.

The day begins with a parade at 11 a.m. From noon to 5 p.m., there will be music by the Spindrifte­rs, The Lost Dogs, Papa Haole and The Fleas and Barn Fire.

There will also be barbecue and other food items available, craft vendors, a car show and activities for children and adults.

Mad River microbrews, Jewell Distillery’s special Trailblaze­r cocktail and wine will be available for purchase.

This is a free family event.

Free bus rides

The city of Arcata Transporta­tion Division’s Arcata and Mad River Transit System is extending free bus rides through July.

Free bus rides in Arcata are in effect through July 30 with Arcata and Mad River Transit System offering transit routes that run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. MondaySatu­rday during the summer months.
