Taylor Swift’s evolution to be traced in Texas museum
Fans have seen Taylor Swift’s musical evolution onstage. Now, they can see it in an exclusive exhibition this summer at the Arlington Museum of Art.
“Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Collection” will open June 3 and run through Sept. 23. The exhibit focuses on the evolution of Swift’s artistry.
The collection is a collaboration with archivists from 13 Management, Swift’s wholly owned management company, Chris Hightower, president and CEO of the Arlington Museum of Art, told the Dallas Voice.
The exhibit will feature original costumes, photographs and concert videos drawn from her different creative periods.
“As an artist, Swift’s career is rich in depth and detail, and we believe the exhibition will appeal not only to her fans, music lovers, and art lovers, but to the next generation of emerging museum-goers,” Hightower said in a statement on the museum’s website.
DeeJay Johannessen, CEO of the Fort Worthbased HELP Center for LGBT Health & Wellness, which is presenting the exhibit, told the Dallas Voice that Taylor has championed many causes through both her music and life that align with his group’s mission.
“For Ms. Swift to choose Arlington as host for this exclusive exhibit is exciting and a testament to the great work the Arlington Museum of Art is doing for our community,” he said.
August Jordan Davis, art historian, curator and chair of art and art history at the University of Texas at Arlington, said the exhibit is an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in what it means to be a modern multimedia artist.
“Great artists throughout history have been able to express themselves so sublimely because they were so dedicated to their craft,” Hightower said. “They never stop learning and never hold back. They influence the future because they take creative risks in spite of opposing forces.”
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said the city loves “collaboration, a can-do spirit, and out-of-the-box thinking, and the team at the Arlington Museum of Art continues to surprise and thrill us by really putting all that into practice.”

• Admission: $15 for seniors (55+); $20 for adults (18-54); $15 for youth (1317); $5 for children (2-12); and free for infants.
• Parking: Free city parking is available along West Main Street as well as the 101 Center parking garage adjacent to the Downtown Library.
• The exhibit is presented by the HELP Center for LGBT Health. Additional support for the exhibit comes from the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council.
• A private opening reception for members and donors is scheduled for June 2. Advance tickets will go on sale in April at arlingtonmuseum.org.
