Halloween lovers tell Us their most memorable costumes

When the actress needed a getup for her “first boy-girl party,” she tells Us, “my dad decided I should go as a garbage can… covered in literal garbage.” Looking back, the Halloween star, 43, notes wryly, “[I] totally understand.”

The X-Men star, 45, and twins Dolly and Charlie, 9, made things convenient for husband Jerry O’Connell, 44, when they dressed up as jellyfish last year. “You all had lights on and [we were] able to see everyone at night,” he says.

Last year, Birch went big with “a Dia de los Muertos theme,” she tells Us. The 36-year-old Hocus Pocus star says the spooky look was “a lot of fun, and probably the most elaborate I’ve gotten with a costume in a long, long time.”

Class clown? At age 16, the future Sex and the City actor hit a Halloween party dressed as a clown, complete with “a squirting flower on the lapel to [do] tricks and treats for people,” says the 47-year-old. “I went all out.”

The Girls alum says his attempt at being a two-headed monster with a pal “started out great and then fizzled out quickly.” Another year, the 41-year-old redeemed himself with a Zeus costume “with a really wicked lightning bolt.”
